Tuesday, September 8: Day 89

Things are starting to change around here. The air is just the tiniest bit chillier and the sun is setting a lot earlier. (September calendar for sunrise/sunset in Anchorage: http://www.sunrisesunset.com/calendar.asp?comb_city_info=Anchorage,%20Alaska;149.9;61.2;-9;1&month=9&year=2009&time_type=0) Today it rose at 7:08 a.m. and set at 8:46 p.m. We lose about 6-7 minutes a day. The leaves have been changing for a couple of weeks now (in the mountains, even longer) and it's gorgeous. The leaves here do something so strangely beautiful. One leaf will be completely yellow and the one right next to it will be completely green still. And it will be that way throughout the whole tree, so that when you look at it, you see both colors at once. I hope this is making sense. Every time I see it, I don't have my camera or we're in the car so it turns out blurry. But I am determined to capture it so it can be documented forever.
